Researchers Note:  The two government issued headstones for this veteran are in separate sections of this cemetery. From the "Record of Service of Michigan Volunteers in the Civil War 1861-1865", as outlined above, this veteran served in both the 22nd and the 29th Michigan Infantry, however it is unusual for two headstones for the same veteran to be issued by the government. No question exists that these headstones are for the same veteran, however the reason for the issuance of two headstones and the placement of same in separate cemetery sections is unknown and outside the scope of this study.

Researchers Note:  In our opinion, the mother's name on the pension request, Mary G., should have been entered as Martha G.

Researchers Note:  Considering where this veteran died and is buried, this headstone may be a memorial headstone.

Researchers Note:  There is another Pension Request on file for Peltier, Frank. This pension request indicates service in Company C, Fifth Michigan Infantry also. There is only one Francis or Frank Peltier listed in the "Record of Michigan Volunteers in the Civil War 1861-1865" in this or any other Michigan Unit. It is apparent that two pension requests were filed by this veteran, the question is why?  Pension Request filed by veteran 4/23/1891, Application 1017221. Request filed from Michigan.
